Hednesford Town (Youth) 2 - 0 Bromsgrove Rovers FC
Hednesford Youth step up to the mark
The young Pitmen came into this game having been unconvincing in the last few performances as a result of fixture disruption and player unavailability.
Paul Casey adopted a three at the back formation at the start of this game, looking to create a more potent attacking threat. However, after a promising start, the home side looked to be getting overrun in midfield which led to Bromsgrove creating a few chances to open the scoring.
On the 24th minute Hednesford had a good penalty shout played on by the referee and a few minutes later saw a good move down the right by Meacham play in Oliver Casey whose shot was beaten away by the keeper.
Casey was again in action in the 36th minute when his excellent free kick was turned just wide by Bandurak.
A change of formation in the second half saw new signing Jack Hepple come into the game along with full back Ben Farrall. The tall, target man, Hepple had an immediate effect on the game holding the ball up well and allowing Ryan Lester to link up with the attack to great effect. The dynamic midfielder came close with a couple of efforts, one which looked certain to score but cleared the crossbar.
In the 63rd minute JACK HEPPLE opened his account for his new club as he turned and hit a right foot shot which squeezed into the bottom corner of the net.
Just over a minute later a fine cross by Jordan Nadat was met by MARK BANDURAK and his firm unchallenged header gave the Bromsgrove goalkeeper no chance.
For the remainder of the game the young Pitmen dominated possession and had further half chances to score but the game finished up 2-0.
This was a fine second half performance by the home side and with interest in two cups remaining and having only lost 3 games in the Premier League, the season is far from over.
