Hednesford Town 1 - 2 RAF Cosford
A hastily arranged practice match for ‘The Pitmen’s’ youth set up and a number of unknown triallists saw military outfit Cosford come away with a well-deserved win.
Played under a fiery sun-setting sky the game saw Romeu Teixiera Da Silva Butiam Co and Gomez make their Hednesford debuts in an attempt to impress Dean Edwards. Both players’ performances suggested there may be a place in the managers first team plans should they build on sporadic flashes of brilliance shown here.
The former slammed a fierce shot against a post in the second half following a mazy run but it was Gomez who impressed most with an assured finish to a move started off by a spacious cross field pass by man-of the match Aaron Gibson.
The young Pitmen side faded in the second half and the fitness of the RAF tolled with a penalty and a scrappy winner proving decisive.
