CAMPBELL DOUBLE STRIKE KEEPS PITMEN SEARCHING FOR WIN

It was an entertaining first half with play flowing from end to end, in the opening minutes a well hit shot by Bradford's Matt James bounced off Stuart Brock's chest and was rolling towards the goal line until Danny Harvey raced in to kick the ball clear.

Brock easily saved a chance from Andy Crawford after the former Middlesbrough star had scuffed his shot. The Pitmen finally made a move forward when Elliott Durrell played a good ball forward for Ross Dyer who had gotten behind the home teams defence unfortunately his touch let him down as the ball went behind for a goal kick.

Bradford defender Stuart Rudd was cautioned for a challenge on Tyrone Barnett and from a good position the free kick was wasted when Durrell failed to clear the first defender.

Dyer played a good cross field ball to Sean Platt who took the ball down the right before cutting into the penalty area from where he hit a shot on target which Worsnop blocked.

Tyrone Barnett took the ball off Bradford's debutant full back Stephen Downs on the left, he took the ball forward then hit a pass inside for Dyer but again his first touch let him down which allowed the ball to be collected by Worsnop.

Brock was called into action to cut out a good cross from Downs then a long range effort from Matt James went well wide of the Pitmen keepers right hand post.

A short back pass from Tom Birch who had a loan spell at Keys Park under Phil Starbuck nearly let in Barnett but Worsnop raced out to kick clear as the Pitmen's joint leading goal scorer closed in on the ball.

Campbell was put clear with a ball over the Pitmen's back line however he was unable to take advantage due to Decio Gomes racing back and making a well timed tackle to put the ball out for a corner.

Ross Draper made a surging run into the penalty area winning a corner in the process. Durrell's corner was punched by Worsnop straight to Marshall who hit a high ball back into the box and after a scramble the ball was cleared.

Former Pitmen Mark Haran went close with a header then with the play back up in the Bradford half Ant Maguire hit a good pass through for Durrell who was thwarted by Worsnop who raced to the edge of his area to pick the ball off Durrell's feet.

As half time approached Durrell found Barnett but like Dyer earlier in the game his touch was heavy allowing Worsnop to clear the ball of his chest then at the other end of the pitch Bradford's Mark Bett pulled a shot from the left across the face of the goal.

The Pitmen went behind in the second minute of the second half when a long ball down the middle was taken by Campbell who after taking a touch hit a first time volley past Brock.

Tranfer listed Tom Marshall headed home a Durrell free kick almost straight from the restart but the goal was ruled out for Ross Draper standing in an offside position.

Any hopes that the visitors had of gaining anything from the game evaporated in the 54th minute when Tyrone Barnett became the Pitmen's third player to be sent off in successive games. It appeared the Assistant Referee had seen Barnett throw at punch at Haran in retaliation to being punched by the Bradford captain.

Campbell scored a second in the 59th minute when he slid in at the back post after Betts left wing cross was missed by Harvey. Dean Edwards made a change sending on loan striker Matt Lewis for Durrell.

In the 70th minute Lewis should have done better when from 15 yards he smashed a shot against the left hand post. The chance came after a cross from Platt was punched by Worsnop straight to Lewis.

Platt attempted a long range shot which went wide of the left hand post after a Maguire corner had been cleared straight to the full back.

The dangerous Bett hit the Pitmen's crossbar with a shot which deflected up off Danny Harvey's out stretched leg. Brock did well to make a low diving save to deny James after he attempted a shot from the edge of the box after Maguire and Harvey had missed tackles.

Chris Hall made it three for the home team when he stabbed the ball home from close range. A cross from the right was not cleared, Marshall blocked a shot on the line but as the current Pitmen luck is going the ball fell to Hall.

Lewis was denied a late consolation goal by Worsnop after Marshall had  hit a well weighted pass forward for Darby to head down to Lewis who forced the keeper to dive to his left to push the ball away for a corner kick.

Duane Darby showed no fear when challenging for a high ball with Worsnop which saw the players clatter into each other. In added on time Campbell was denied a hat trick by Brock who blocked the strikers close range effort.
