The second half saw Hednesford with very few opportunities and still unable to get the ball in the net. It was Starlands who struck first to take a 1-0 lead. After conceding the goal the Hednesford heads dropped, and they then managed to concede another three goals, to make the game 0-4. Opposition’s player of the match went to defender Georgia Clarke. A very controversial game in which Hednesford Girls did not deserve by the damning score line. After 10 minutes Brereton went ahead when the defenders goal kick failed to clear the box only to be slotted into the goalmouth. Hednesford did not lose heart and made several attacks on the Brereton goalmouth with Emily Gray Davis coming very close. Women of the match Georgia Clarke and Lauren Cross worked tirelessly in defence, giving Jess Knight (opposition’s player of the match) an outside chance on goal. A dubious penalty was awarded to Brereton which Charli Philpott tried valiantly to save but attempting to tip the powerful blast over the crossbar resulted in an injury to the keeper. After half time, Hednesford had several chances to bring the result back but let their concentration slip again when the offside flag was raised and they all stepped off the gas to allow the forward to continue on to score. A defensive and goalie error saw Brereton's fourth goal go in ten minutes into the second half. Not giving up, Naomi Wiggin took the ball down the wing, passed in to Ellie Bilson who scored her fourth goal this season. The fight continued when Jess Knight took over in attack and worried the Brereton defence until the final whistle. Hednesford U12’s Girls 1 – 0 Brownhills Colts

It’s always a good natured match between these two teams and this fixture was no exception. Hednesford Girls owned the first half with early chances from new signing Jess Fowler and Jess Knight. Later in the first half, Town again made the Colts keeper work hard with two more missed opportunities. The second half was greatly dominated by Colts with Town relying heavily on the defence of Lauren Cross, Georgia Clarke and Manager’s player of the match, Hannah Deakin – as solid as ever, rescuing Town from what looked like an inevitable goal. Not to be outdone Cross found unknown strength and pace to outrun the Colts striker, successfully narrowing her angle on goal. A free kick saw a superb one on one chance for Jess Knight versus the goalie, but again it wouldn’t go in the net. Eventually Town did take the lead though as Jess Fowler crossed into opposition’s player of the match, Ellie Bilson who in full flight slotted the ball past the keeper. Colts refused to give up with their kick from centre being charged straight down the field forcing Town keeper, Charli Philpott, to make a tremendous save. This was shortly followed by a free kick for Town, taken by Hannah, which the Colts goalie let slip, but Ellie could not make it count. No one could be disappointed by this game: it made a great way to finish for the Christmas break. Hednesford Town Ladies U12’s 0 - 4 Bilbrook

Hednesford Town U12 Girls suffered a home defeat despite some excellent midfield work from Manager’s Player of the Match, Ellie Bilson. Defensive errors led to the opening goal and the overall result fails to reflect the brilliant opportunities Town girls made but could not convert into goals. Newcomer Annie Mae Greatrex was working well as centre forward and showed great promise. Opposition’s player of the match, Hannah Deakin, also battled well the whole game. Hednesford Town girls suffered defeat at the hands of Brownhill Colts who were a lean mean and very tough side. Hednesford had chances to take the lead though but in the end the all important goal was illusive. The majority of first half play went Towns way, but Colts were always dangerous on the break and popped one in the net just before half time. With two regular players out of the squad Town welcomed new signings and both acquitted themselves well, showing promise for the future before Colts added a second. Less than 10 minutues in, Hednesford were rewarded for all the pressure with the first of two goals from manager's player of the match, Ellie Bilson. Hednesford failed to convert a penalty in the 20th minute, but two minutes later Bilson tore through the opposition defence to score her second goal. With new found confidence, Hednesford made several storming runs down the right, from where winger and oppositions player of the match, Jess K was rewarded with a goal just prior to the half-time whistle. The second half saw Brereton make the most of their rare opportunities and two quick goals followed. Hednesford appeared shaken by their change of fortune but goalkeeper Charli Philpott remained rock steady and defenders Georgia Clarke and Soph Maunders made their most significant contributions to the game to seal Town’s first win of the season. Town started the game with only 8 girls due to illness. However they all gave 120% from the first whistle to the last and Player of the Match shared the burden in midfield. Hannah Deakin - opposition’s player of the match- held defence solid. Amy Garraton scored twice holding a forward position all alone, while Ellie Bilson grabbed the other. It was an outstanding performance by the girls who were a massive credit to themselves and the Hednesford Town team. Hednesford Town 0 - 2 Brownhills Colts (Ladies U12)
