Hednesford came up against a very physical Beacon side that caused Town plenty of problems with the football they played to leave them 2-0 down at the break. The second half saw Hednesford come out fighting and they matched them with the physical challenges and scored two fantastic goals from man of the match Jake Grainger to get his side level. But it wasn’t to be as Beacon scored again in the later stages of the game to come out winners.

The score line does not do justice to the Harriers as it was only two lapses in concentration that let Brewood score their goals, although they are a first Division team Hednesford matched them all over the pitch.

In their second game Hednesford came out convincing winners thanks to an 8-1 victory. Goals arrived from Henry Bland 4, Callum White 2 and one each from Jack Grainger and James Galvin.

The first half was a close affair with neither side managing to break through following some stout defending. The second half saw substitute Henry Bland slot past the keeper to give Town the lead. Just minutes from the end Tigers equalised though following a mix-up in the Town defence.

For the second week running Hednesford Town Harriers U9 had to field an under strength team. Their first game saw them truimph 13-0 against Wyrley, but the second game they ended up losing 3-0 to Wednesfied. A big well done to all the lads who all battled hard in both games.

Hednesford Town Under 9's won the Hawkins Tournament beating a competitive Chase Athletic in the final.

Chase took the lead when Town failed to clear from a corner. In a game of two halves due to the sloping pitch Hednesford came back strongly in the second half and it was no surprise when Mitch Candlin fired past the Chase keeper to equal the scores. After extra time the game went to a penalty shoot out and Tom Mackenzie was the hero when he saved to win another trophy for the junior PitmenHednesford Team as Photo:    Mitch Candlin, Oli Butler, Tan Katsukunya, Jamie Weldon(c), Josh Parker, Jack Weldon, Cody Lyons & Tom MacKenzie

Walsall Junior Youth League  Cup Winners

Hednesford were crowned Walsall Junior Youth League Champions with a convincing win against a strong Wednesfield side on Friday 16th at Rushall Olympic.

After a storming 6-0 performance in the semi final against Bustleholme, Town continued their form in the final and took the game to Wednesfield. It was not long before Mitchel Candlin broke the deadlock with a thunderbolt of a strike. Just before half time Candlin again hit the back of the net with a brilliant shot that gave the keeper no chance.

The second half was much the same and the game was over when Jack Weldon played Candlin through and he completed his hatrick by slotting past the keeper. Wednesfield to their credit kept trying a got a consolation in the last minute. Full credit to the Hednesford players for two outstanding performances.
