Bedford Town 3 - 2 Hednesford
Pitmen Freeze As Bedford Record Vital Win
In a seemingly arctic freeze Bedford Town dug out a battling perfprmance to put a lacklustre Hednesford Town to the sword.
Despite the final result, it was The Pitmen who started the strongest and took the lead on sixteen minutes when a defensive mistake let Ross Dyer in to fire a left footed shot into the roof of the net.
Elliott Durrell lashed a shot against the cross bar and Tyrone Barnett flashed a shot across goal before Bedford took hold of the game.
The equaliser came on thirty-three minutes when lax defending let Bedford skipper Eddie Lawley in to place the ball past Stuart Brock.
The home side took the lead six minutes later when, with Hednesford pushing forward, Craig Daniel fired left-footed into the far corner from the edge of the area.
As the winter chill set in during the second half Bedford made sure of the three points when Lawley played in Stacey Field to confidentally round Brock and finish the game off.
Durrell grabbed a late consolation for The Pitmen but their efforts were to no avail and struggling Bedford celebrated with the warmth of a vital three points.
Hednesford will look to recover from defeat on Saturday when they make another trip south to face Oxford City before welcoming Nuneaton Borough on Boxing Day in what promises to be a festive cracker at Keys Park.
